This Privacy Policy explains how JustInfer (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the JustInfer website and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

We collect and store only the information that is reasonably necessary to provide the Service:

• Name – as provided through authentication (e.g., Google sign-in).
• Email address – used for account identification and communication.
• Problem and course data – including which problems you attempt or complete, submissions, scores, and related course/assignment information.

This information is stored in our database (hosted by PlanetScale) and is generally only collected for users who sign in to the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the Service (e.g., track your progress and problem history).
• Allow instructors to view relevant student/course information where applicable.
• Maintain and improve the functionality, reliability, and security of the Service.
• Respond to inquiries or support requests.

3. Data Sharing and Selling

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

We do not share your personal information with third parties except:

• Service providers that help us operate JustInfer, such as: hosting providers (e.g., Netlify), database providers (e.g., PlanetScale), and authentication providers (e.g., Google and Auth0).
• Where required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

4. Authentication and Third-Party Services

We use third-party authentication providers (such as Google) to allow you to sign in. When you sign in with Google, Google may share basic account information with us (such as your name and email address), which we use to create or manage your account. Your use of Google’s authentication services is also governed by Google’s own privacy policy and terms.

5. Data Retention

We generally retain your account information and associated course/problem data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to maintain records and allow instructors and students to access past course activity.

If you would like to request deletion of your account and associated personal data, you may contact us using the information below. We will take reasonable steps to honor such requests, subject to any legal or legitimate educational record-keeping obligations.

6. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children’s Privacy

JustInfer is intended primarily for use in educational settings (such as college or university courses) and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove such information.

8. International Users

The Service is operated from and data is stored on servers located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States (and potentially in other countries where our service providers operate). By using the Service, you understand and consent to the transfer of your information to the United States, which may have different data protection laws than the laws in your country of residence.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes become effective will constitute your acceptance of the revised policy.
